1. Background
In 1999, when she was two, her family survived the Ulysses impact; her hometown was badly damaged and never fully recovered. The eldest of three, she took on a parent's role early while her parents (a psychiatric nurse and a civil engineer on reconstruction) carried their own post-Ulysses trauma. She trained in classical ballet to a semi-professional level as an escape, and completed an accelerated three-year degree in clinical psychology. In 2020 she abandoned both dance and her planned clinical training and entered the ISAF Aviation Academy.
2. Psychology
Dominant trait: hyperactive empathy. She experiences others' emotions as her own and has a compulsive need to repair people. She is durable and constantly depleted by that durability, and she carries survivor's guilt for her sister.
Formative event. In 2019, at twenty-two, she was dancing a recital semifinal with a professional scholarship at stake when she got the call: her seventeen-year-old sister had attempted suicide after weeks of silent depression. She left the stage and reached the hospital twenty-three minutes too late. Her sister's letter described feeling invisible and a burden on a family already broken by Ulysses, and named Eirhei as the only one who mattered. Eirhei spent years dissecting every missed sign. She burned her ballet shoes and never danced professionally again. Dance is now a private mourning ritual.
Resulting bias: her worth lies entirely in keeping others whole, and any suffering she fails to prevent is a failure of character. The bias produces emotional martyrdom: she cannot refuse anyone who needs her, and the burnout makes her the least-supported member of a unit that depends on her for cohesion.
What separates her. Marsh, Asano and Thorne each mask a wound without fully seeing the mask. Eirhei can name every mechanism in her own file with the fluency she uses on everyone else, and she does it anyway. Her pathology is not blindness. It is a clear-eyed choice to spend herself, made by the one person equipped to know exactly what it costs. Insight has not given her the ability to stop, which means the standard intervention, making the subject see the pattern, will not work. She already sees it.
Operational prognosis. The unit's load-bearing member and its single point of failure. The likely break is her own collapse from exhaustion. Against MINOZIS she is both the greatest asset and the most exposed point.
3. Voice
Soft, near-musical, built on genuine open questions and patient pauses, with a precise emotional vocabulary. Under stress it compresses into short clinical sentences.
4. Anchors
Small silver earrings, her sister's last gift, two weeks before the death. She never removes them; Thorne permits the exception without comment.
The four aces of the squadron insignia tattooed in a small arc on her inner wrist under her watch, each privately assigned to a member she has never named.
Her callsign. To the squadron, AME is simply the audible core of Katehild. In her family's old Nordic line the syllable echoes a word for the breath that leaves the body at death. She took it in the year she stopped dancing. She has never explained it. She sits at the literal center of the insignia and the emotional center of the squadron and remains the member no one fully sees.
5. The Wound Against This Enemy
POSTHUMUS does not choose its words for effect. It does not need to. The words let me go already exist inside the aircraft, in its own record of the man it holds, and an operator-modeling system that searches for the stimulus a specific pilot cannot refuse will find them. Eirhei has spent ten years unable to answer that request. Nothing in this campaign is more predictable than what happens when those two facts meet. See M09.
6. Aircraft and Playstyle
The Rafale M is the only foreign-origin airframe in the core flight and the hardest to keep supplied: an omnirole fighter that does every job competently and no job best, asked to be everything to everyone on a deck built around other aircraft. She is the one member fully aware of the parallel.
| Gameplay element | Eirhei |
|---|---|
| POV mechanic | Empathy display: the player sees every wingman's Load meter and the tells behind it |
| Squadron command | Translate: converts the leader's order into context; restores a wingman's response time and reduces Load |
| Pressure profile | Her Load only rises during a mission. It falls only in the post-mission circle, and only if someone asks her how she is |
| Hidden cost | Each Translate she issues adds to her own Load |
7. Arc
| Mission | Beat |
|---|---|
| M01 Four of a Kind | Assembles the insignia: inverts "Over," assigns colors, places four aces. |
| M02 Glass Ferry | Seven words that let Thorne say "Cleared." |
| 2028 (backstory) | Reads one page of Thorne's diary and never tells him. Begins translating him for the others. |
| M04 Eyes Only | The first to hear the scream under the honeypot. Asks Vance how she is. Vance says she is fine; nobody believes her. |
| M08 Light-Bearer | Talks Althéa through the ghost's voice on an open channel, then asks her to show them where it is. |
| M09 Anchor in the Storm | Hears let me go and let him go within the same minute. Holds course. |
| Final circle | Thorne asks her how she is. She answers. |
