Canon Foundation
This document states which parts of the setting come from Ace Combat canon and how the project builds on them. Sources are listed in Canon Sources. Fixed facts are restated in the Continuity Bible.
1. A Spin-off Between the Numbered Games
Ace Combat MINOZIS is a spin-off of the Ace Combat franchise. It occupies the decade between Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown (the Lighthouse War, 2019) and Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve (the Sotoa–Usea War, from 16 July 2029), and its consequences extend into the 2030s that lead to Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere (2040). The campaign ends on 18 June 2029, twenty-eight days before Sotoa's opening strike on Expo City.
Position in the Strangereal chronology

| 2040 | Intercorporate War | Ace Combat 3 | The corporate world the decade leads to |
What a spin-off may and may not do
| May | May not |
|---|---|
| Use its own cast, units and operations | Change the outcome of any numbered game |
| Show canon events from a different angle (the Lighthouse War's blackout, Sotoa's build-up, the Rocky Island "accident") | Put its characters into scenes or missions from the numbered games |
| Explain things canon leaves open, where no canon fact contradicts it | Name or involve canon protagonists (Trigger, Rex, Joker Flight) |
| Point forward to canon outcomes in epilogue text | Show events after June 2029 except as canon-horizon text |
Why this gap
Canon shows the period from 2019 to 2040 as the slow transfer of power from states to corporations, ending in the corporate world of Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere. The project tells one hidden piece of that transfer: how a state's secret weapon became a datum in a corporation's feasibility study for wiring a human into a machine. In canon, that study is General Resource's Darkness of Enigma, and it ends with a child prodigy undergoing artificial nerve surgery. The project never shows that outcome. It shows the four years that made it possible.
2. Canon Elements Used Directly
Nations and places
| Element | Canon basis | Use in the project |
|---|---|---|
| Union of Yuktobanian Republics | AC5, AC8 | Builder of MINOZIS through a black program; home of the Belyaev family. Capital Cinigrad. |
| Osean Federation | AC5, AC7, AC8 | Vance's service; Arctic rival of Yuktobania. Capital Oured; Bright Hill. |
| Belka | AC Zero, AC5 | Origin of the Gründer lineage and of Hans and Althéa Lichtträger. |
| Erusea; the EASA | AC04, AC7 | Target of a Winter King attempt; the privatized EASA is a background creditor. |
| Federation of Central Usea (FCU) | AC2, AC04, AC8 | Core of the original ISAF; weakened by reconstruction and the eastern debt trap. |
| North Point | AC04 | ISAF's historic headquarters; base of the ISAF Revival Initiative. |
| San Salvacion | AC04 | Neutral zone where 6AMEꓤƎꓥO9 first fights. |
| Dresdene; Bana City | AC5 | Hina Asano's childhood and the reason her family fled. |
| Okchabursk | AC5 | Site of one of the three slush hydrogen facilities, beside legacy naval infrastructure. |
| Gracemeria | AC6 | Thorne's birthplace. |
| Comona Islands space center | AC3, AC8 | Enso's launch site for Morgenstern and Sotoa's Tonitrus Satellite. |
| Sotoa | AC8 | Western Verusa; the invader of July 2029. |
Organizations
| Element | Canon basis | Use in the project |
|---|---|---|
| Gründer Industries | AC2, AC Zero, AC7 | Z.O.E. lineage; three MINOZIS engineers are former Gründer staff under false identities. |
| Grey Men | AC5 | The 2010 conspiracy; the post-SOLG purges that took Hans Lichtträger. |
| IUN | AC7, AC8 | The peacekeeping withdrawal of 2020; the Expo City headquarters of 2029. |
| Enso Order | AC8 | Owner and launcher of Morgenstern. Publicly an infrastructure and aerospace conglomerate in 2029; its manipulation of the coming war is unknown to every character. |
| General Resource Ltd. | AC3, AC6, AC7, Advance | Pursues MINOZIS for DOE; runs the Glubina cache operation. Fields private air units (canon: GR Guardian Mercenaries supply the Mimic Squadron in 2019; the GR Defense Force fights in Usea in 2026). |
Technology
| Element | Canon basis | Use in the project |
|---|---|---|
| Z.O.E. | AC2, AC7 | Founding precedent for autonomous combat learning. |
| ADF-01 FALKEN; COFFIN | AC2, AC5, AC Zero, AC7 | Mature, non-neural COFFIN shell inherited by the MNZ-41. |
| ENSI | AC3 materials | General Resource's 2020s neural-coupling standard. The Directorate built the MNZ-41's coupling on it and drove it to an invasive depth it was never meant for. |
| ADFX-10, ADF-11F Raven, Arsenal Bird | AC7 | Lighthouse War drone lineage and its proliferated remnants. |
| International Space Elevator; orbital solar power transmission | AC7, AC8 | Canon precedent for orbital solar collection and microwave power beaming, which Morgenstern weaponizes. |
| Tonitrus Spear | AC8 | Appears only as the "space telescope" anomaly of January 2029 and in the epilogue. |
| Darkness of Enigma; X-40 Nightmare; X-49 Night Raven | AC3 materials | The 2028 interface program that wants MINOZIS's data (see Points where the wiki disagrees). |
3. Canon Constraints and How the Project Honors Them
No war between 2019 and July 2029. Canon has no declared war in this window. The project's 2028 events form a crisis: assassination attempts, cyber attacks, deniable engagements and one orbital clash, all absorbed by cover stories. MINOZIS reactivates because its activation condition reads crisis indicators as war. It cannot tell the difference, and that failure is the point.
Osea and Yuktobania are at peace in 2029. Canon confirms both are superpowers whose intervention in Usea was still only a possibility in 2030. The project keeps them at peace: their Arctic dispute is a standoff of overlapping patrol zones, and the Counter-MINOZIS Task Force is the joint instrument of two governments that agreed to lie together.
The orbital layer works again by 2029. The 2019 war destroyed both superpowers' satellite networks and blacked out the world's information networks, but canon shows the International Space Elevator's solar-power satellites, Enso's Comona launches and the Tonitrus Satellite in operation by 2029. The project treats polar navigation as the slowest service to recover, which is why the Arctic boundaries stayed ambiguous through 2025.
Neucom is never named. Canon says the privatized EASA's joint venture with an airline became Neucom but gives no year. The campaign refers only to the privatized EASA.
No COFFIN combat is known before 2030. Canon records the first known combat flight of a COFFIN-type aircraft on 24 March 2030, near Cima Island. MINOZIS fits only because none of its engagements ever became known: every one is absorbed by the Agreed Fiction, and the finale's wreck lies under the ice.
Yuktobania and Osea are on ceremonial terms. In June 2020 Yuktobania attended the Belkan War's 25th-anniversary ceremony at Osea's invitation. The Arctic rivalry of the project grows inside that cordial public relationship.
General Resource is ambitious, not dominant. Canon places GR's rise to global prominence after it inherits Enso's assets in 2030. Before that it is already a private security power in Usea: in 2024 it bought out In-sa-net Telegraph and Telephone Communication, and in 2026 its Defense Force destroyed a terrorist organization at the request of Usean governments that had lost much of their own power. It is not yet the hegemon it becomes.
Enso's guilt stays hidden. Enso is a decentralized autonomous organization whose nodes can operate without knowing each other's work. Its Planning Division 303's role in prolonging the war is exposed only in 2030. Characters in 2029 see Enso as a lender, a launch provider and Morgenstern's corporate owner.
Points where the wiki disagrees
| Point | What the wiki records | Project reading |
|---|---|---|
| Who runs Darkness of Enigma in 2028–2029 | The DOE and General Resource pages call it GR's program begun in 2028. The COFFIN page says Enso started it with GR and former Gründer engineers; the Enso page lists it among Enso's assets inherited by GR | Run by GR with Enso participation; characters know it only as GR's. It passes wholly to GR in 2030. |
| When Rena Hirose joined | 2030 (GR page) or 2031 (DOE page) | "Early 2030s" |
| Start of the Sotoa–Yuktobanian War | "Around the 2010s" or "the early 2000s" | "An earlier war with Yuktobania" |
4. Where the Project Adds to Canon
The following are project inventions placed in canon gaps. None contradicts a canon fact.
| Addition | Gap it occupies |
|---|---|
| Directorate Zimniy and OPERATION WINTER KING | Yuktobanian hardliners after the Circum-Pacific War settlement |
| MNZ-41 MINOZIS | First ENSI-coupled COFFIN aircraft in the 2020s |
| Counter-MINOZIS Task Force and Liaison Instrument | Classified Osean–Yuktobanian cooperation |
| ISAF Revival Initiative, ISN Albatross, 6AMEꓤƎꓥO9 | The Usean security gap left by the IUN's 2020 withdrawal |
| MRS-144 Morgenstern | An Enso orbital program built on canon power-beaming technology |
| Pobeda-7, Glubina Cryogenics Facility, Sonza Aerospace Design Bureau and Academy | Yuktobanian aerospace infrastructure |
| The 2028 crisis incidents (Cases Alpha–Zeta, Winter King attempts) | Undeclared incidents of a period canon describes as unstable |
5. Canon Horizon
The campaign ends before the Sotoa–Usea War. The following canon events happen afterward and frame the ending:
- Recovery operations over the MINOZIS wreck stop when the war begins on 16 July 2029.
- On 24 March 2030 the first known COFFIN combat flight takes place near Cima Island.
- In April 2030 Enso's Operation Sweep strikes its own facilities, including Okchabursk, to destroy evidence.
- On 31 August 2030 Enso Order dissolves and General Resource inherits its Usean assets, DOE included. Morgenstern's data and any surviving nodes pass to GR.
- DOE reaches its living subject in the early 2030s; the X-49 first flies on 21 July 2032; GR ends DOE in 2033 and its staff defect to Neucom.
The dossier's warning that "a corporation that cannot obtain a dead pilot's neural interface data will build its own experiment" is therefore fulfilled in canon. The campaign stops MINOZIS. It does not stop the feasibility study, and the ending acknowledges this.
